To study medicine is my ultimate goal in life. It’s been my passion since I was seven years old. At the age of four, I frequented the library regularly with my mother. This daily routine continued for five years. During these five years, my mother would invariably encourage me to read non-fiction. I’m not sure how or why but I was immensely fascinated with the human body from a young age. I’d feed my curiosity and satisfy my hunger by borrowing several books at a time on this topic to my mother’s delight. Books on the human body, books on diseases, books on nutrition, books on maintaining health. Pair my intense interest and love for the subject with a perpetual inner desire to help others and do good and there it is -my path, my calling. There is nothing else out there for me, no other career, no other job, no other purpose.
My mother told me that she’d often find me attempting to make “medicine” in the backyard using various plants and copious amounts of grass when I was very young. I hope this is indeed God’s will for me because I cannot imagine myself pursuing anything else.
