buy a bike

Her name is Lula May.

I have found her.

I’m picking her up tomorrow.

This week I will be partaking in a multi-city search for the used bike that screams, “I AM THE ONE!” I think to most people this bike will not scream… it will probably whimper, “I have seen better days, thus I am incredibly cheap and not worth your time”.

I will adopt and love this bike. It will be mine.

Salvation Army Store = No bike.

I am working in the BME building next to a big glass wall, and I look beside me and there a couple bikes resting on the many bike racks along the sidewalk. And I notice that one of the two bikes right beside me is truly doing that… just resting there. The lock is hooked up to the frame, but not to the rack. And it’s not a cheap bike either.

Ah, if only I wasn’t an honest gal.

‘Sides I’d be afraid that they’d see me around campus with it. I had a friend that that happened to. His bike was stolen and one day as he was driving around the city, he saw some kid with it. He chased the guy down in a minivan and the guy gave the bike up.

My awesome roomie and I are going to the Salvation Army and perhaps I can find a bike there for dirt cheap. I think we are going Friday, so we shall see, we shall see.

After many, many cold walks and/or waitings for the bus, I have decided I want a bike.

I don’t want a bike with two dozen gears, or with a $97 seat, or racing tires. I want a bike that is worth less than the lock securing it.
