Another Bill Bright book. I was totally hesitant after last month’s mediocre book by the same author, but I thought I’d take a chance on it. It was totally worth it! I fell in love with the main character, and felt the pain and the anticipation of revival in this colonial town on the brink of importing slaves.
It’s a fast read, which is all I have time for right now. I’m into a few other books that are more intense, but it’s a slow go with my busy schedule right now.
I haven’t figured out March’s book yet.

I ended up reading until 3am this morning. I love it when a book sucks you into itself. This one was pretty good. Not as well written as I’d like, but it had some moments that were quite profound.
I’m starting a book called, “Fire” today. It’s by the same authors (Bill Bright and Jack Cavanaugh). These are historically based books (around the turn of the century). There’s another one after that, so I don’t think I’ll be able to hold off for a whole month before reading that one. :D

That’s my theory, at least.

This is my book for July. I think it’s about time I really looked into what types of skills I have & how they would translate into different careers. I’ve mostly had jobs in the accounting field, but they were for small companies without upward mobility. Also, I believe I’d like a career where I can learn and grow. I’m just not sure want to do accounting for the rest of my life.
This book has a “Questions” section at the end of each chapter. I really need to use it as a workbook to figure out my career life. We’ll see how God opens my eyes in this!

Okay, so last month (June) I read books…they just happened to be ones I had read previously. I have a habit of reading certain books over & over again. I am addicted to the Space Trilogy by C.S. Lewis. The second book of the trilogy (Perelandra) happens to be my favorite. So, I read that one again.
I haven’t figured out what I’ll read this month. I’ll keep you posted!

Well, it’s not really a club. I just thought it would tie in nicely with my goal to read of the books I own. I haven’t been reading for leisure lately, but it seems like a good enough time to start.
This month, I finished The Bema-by Tim Stevenson. I bought it after Michael Sewell came to our church and performed his one-man act of the book. Phenomenal book about the judgment of our works. As one who trusts in Jesus alone for my eternal life, I will not have my sins judged. Why not? Well, because that happened when Jesus died on the cross for my sins. He died once for all, and “to as many as believe, to them He gave the right to be called children of God.”
However, what we do with our lives will be judged, but for a different purpose: for reward. The Bema is the judgment seat, where our works will be judged, whether they are gold & silver, or wood, hay & stubble.
The Bema is a fictional book about a man who is called to heaven via the rapture, and is waiting for the judgment. We get to be with him as his life is spread before him, and he sees his motives and his actual heart exposed. I highly recommend the book.
I haven’t decided what book I’m reading for next month. I’ll keep ya posted.
