I want to get flash cards and learn the 1,000 most commonly used words in Spanish. I am better at learning the actual words than the way they go together in a sentence.
Here they are: http://wordsgalore.com/wordsgalore/languages/spanish/spanish1000.html
Yikes! My boyfriends Dad is coming from South America. He doesn’t speak English. He will be here for 2 weeks, staying with us for part of that time. I need to know something coherent in Spanish by that time so I can participate in the conversations. I love to say stuff directly and not through a ‘translator’.
I may have to get back to Rosetta Stone.
I overheard a conversation my boyfriend was having w/ his brother yesterday. I understood the gist of just about everything! It helped that I already knew things that he would be talking about… but, it shows that I have made some progress.
I feel so lame about this. I am not progressing very fast. Yes, I do learn a few words a day but that’s not enough. How am I going to communicate with my sweethearts South American father when he arrives in August! Hmmm. maybe it’s better I don’t understand what he is saying.
I’m thinking about joining the conversation group that meets at the local cafe, it’s just that the woman charges so damned much!
I have all of my Pimsleur Spanish CD’s in the car. I have been practicing an it’s fun!
Time to focus on my Rosetta Stone exercises. It’s a great system now I just need to use it more regularly.
Every day a few new words in Spanish…I will get there one day.
I will check back in only after I have made progress with Rosetta.
I love Spanish! It is one thing that I am truly passionate about right now in my life. I am trying to learn through a variety of different methods.
I am avoiding the classroom for now because in the past once I am forced to learn something I lose my interest and passion for it. I would like to keep this as a hobby and keep it fun! I have the Rosetta Stone language program for Spanish. If any of you are interested in this type of thing it is really amazing. The program I have is to use on the computer. It seems easy, moves quickly and you actually really learn as you go (it’s seemingly effortless!). I am also watching movies in Spanish, listening to music in Spanish, eves dropping on conversations in Spanish around town and learning what I can from my boyfriend whose native tongue is ….you guessed it.
Hope I am not boring you. I think the eclectic approach will hold my interest and not kill my love for this beautiful language. I appreciate any tips you might have-send them my way!!
