For my own entertainment really.
Also, because I am going to do an Energy Clearing very soon.
Why ?
Well that is a whole different category. I will post that someday..
Also, we have had an unpleasant Rat invasion. Funny we got the Rat King on Xmass Eve. So very Hoffmann (author of the original Nutcracker) which is quite a recent addition to the US Holiday Fare.
It arrived here sometime in the 1940’s/50’s.
Whenever pests show up, I know something is amuck and that the land energy is off kilter. So they are being evicted…. snap snap !

and I also snagged some Monarda or Bee Balm. It has all taken, even though the weather here has been Beastly. Oh and by way of validation, I found a funky 50’s shallow birdbath which was within my budget then (who knew things would go so wrong…) which now sort of anchors the garden. I think I have a picture On my netbook of course..
One thing I’ve been doing lately while in the pit is trying to identify plants, I have a Huge Sunset Plants of the Northeast book which helps. It keeps me focussed on something. It is a very “present” or stay in the day activity. And sometimes, I actually figure something out.
I do have dreams for the Munda here.
Oh and we tried the old fashioned push mower yesterday and Guess what ? It worked real good ! :)

I certified my yard as a Monarch Watch Station. Hmm.. I don’t have the link.
The last thing I am waiting for is my precious Milk Weed. I remember it being Everywhere when I was young. Now it has to be imported from Special nurseries.
If you can get it to grow… and if adult Monarchs lay eggs there, then you can feed a flock of caterpillers, which become butterflies, which makes you a Grandparent of some sort
Even when I am depressed, I seem to function.

Is a huge white bowl that I bought at the Salvation Army.
When I got home, the neighbor’s had a sink pedestal out for the trash pickup. Now, is that a validation or what ? That is now the base of my new bird bath area. A large piece of granite holds the bowl in place.
The sad news is that the fledgling robin that was bouncing around after me yesterday has crossed. :( I believe it was sick. I was sure that the Mother was looking out after it, but whatever was going on, it succumbed. Nature’s way. Sad. And well, upsetting.
RIP little robin…

and their parents. I am sure I’ve written about them before.
Last year at this time I was able to float in the pool and observe the subtle lessons going on over my head. The Woodpecker showing it’s young where to peck. Flight school, etc.
This year. I am staring at my toes. The fan is on. I am thinking how it would be nice to be out taking field notes. But I itch and this sucks. So I must take benadryl, and then, stare some more.
The only movie I have in the house is Donnie Darko. I really don’t think that is such a good idea. There is a sequel btw, S. Darko. I may watch it some day.
Hmm, how many places in my 43things do I whine before I admit I am totally depleted and depressed ?
Anyhow, watch birds with their young. It’s a cool thing to do.

It took a chain saw, and a half of a day of Manpower, but that sucker is gone. I don’t know What it was, but I know I hated it, and it had to go.
I spent 2 days hacking away at it, before the bad allergy arrived.. Maybe the bush was fighting back ?
But today it is gone, and you can See my Kwan Yin statue and my pagoda.
Even Ecoscapers have to maintain their shrubs… Never let a pricker bush get as huge as this thing was.
I felt a bit like Briar Rose in a coffin with it here. Symbolic ?
Now I just need to get rid of the allergic reaction…

the nasty pricker shrub that is Highly endangered here.
I was actually looking at these things on Mr. Smarty Plants when Life went Very, Very South last night.
I went to bed at 8 PM….

I hunted down and removed and bagged any invasive Garlic Mustard I could find. Though a growing time, not really a reaping phase of the moon, I wanted to stop them from reseeding. This could take a very long time.
I also moved that corydalis that managed to get a sunburn, despite the fact we have had little sun since it went in. Perhaps it doesn’t like my soil ? I put it out with the spiderwort… but broke a hoe doing it. Shakes fist at tree roots of invasive, unwelcome but to be identified vines.
I put a lavender in where the corydalis was, because the one that was in the pot was Not doing well, while those my neighbors have in the soil are flourishing. I really didn’t want to put a non-native in the ground, but I Do want to harvest some lavendar, so in it went.
I also transplanted the two tibouchina’s my dear husband got me. They are an exotic Brazilian flower that is raised by the horticulturist at a Botanic Garden that he visits frequently in his job capacity.
Here is a bloom picture of it:

It is now time for lunch and some face time with our out-of-town guest.
