Publish a poem

Well, not really, but it sure feels like it is! Two of my poems are being published in the Aura Literary Arts Review. I am so excited! Can’t believe it! I want more of this feeling! Must. . .write. . .submit. . .

I still don’t know if my poems were published. I should find out soon.

I have turned in two more poems to a different local publication.

I have turned in 4 poems to a local publication. I think I am a shoo in. We’ll see. Should know something soon.

These are the poems I have chosen so far to send in:

Verano

A horsefly simmers,
up the vine of Asiatic jasmine,
Two wires for antennae.

He is simply surly
as he attacks flora.

His temper
blasts the leaves
on the Japanese maple
and it tastes of shock,
of heat,
of summer.

Oinopa poton

My body betrays me.

It hides something
away
tucked in the folds.

There is a pearl
in there, and
sometimes, light
glints off it.
I catch the
glimmer
in my peripheral eye.

I lose sleep
trying to ferret it out,
thinking, perhaps,
in the dark
the white will be more
visible.

I watch for signs,
signals,
that it is embedded there.
My body,
circulating it,
mutating with it.

I cannot behold it.
It is caught within me.

There are a couple of local publications through the school I am going to that are looking for submissions. I have given myself the deadline of submitting something by this Friday. I will go through my already written poems and see what I can conjure up.
