Will is now 11 1/2 months and can do the signs for “light”, “milk”, “eat”, “all done”, & “more”. Sometimes he signs “cat” also. We use the signs mostly for mealtime but I am trying to get him to sign “dirty” and “diaper” but he hasn’t gotten those yet although he smiles at me so I almost think he knows what I mean. ;)
It is so encouraging to finally see results, and I love communicating with him through signs!

I have been doing some basic signs since my son was 6 months old. I attended a baby signs workshop and that helped me learn several signs. Now that he is 8 months I am seeing some progress, he definitely watches my hands very closely now and he tugs at my shirt (the sign for “nurse”!) although I fear he may have done that anyway. ;) Some of the signs I am trying to teach him now include “cat”, “eat”, “drink”, “nurse” (usually the same thing), and “diaper”. He is especially interested in songs like the itsy bitsy spider which I can sign along to while I sing to him.
