the Iraq Moratorium 2 years ago

Here an interesting new initiative to protest the ongoing Iraq War on the third Friday of every month. The idea is to do someone outside of one’s normal routine to protest the war on these days, such as wearing a ribbon, not buying gas, writing letters to representatives, etc. Check out the Iraq Moratorium to find out more.

formerly end the war 2 years ago

some folks pointed out to me that my goal wasn’t very clear, so, hopefully, this is more clear.

why only 8 people on this goal? 2 years ago

do we feel like it is inappropriate to discuss politics? are we worried about alienating people? is the war too controversial or personal to talk about? I don’t get it. We need to start talking about this if we are going to end it.

approaching another anniversary of the advent of the war 2 years ago

and this needless, avoidable, senseless, deceitful war continues to devastate the lives of hundreds of thousands of people. I try to live my life with integrity and purpose, but sometimes I feel guilty for worrying about little things like cleaning my house or for spending time watching TV while this devastation continues. The truth is, whatever my struggles, I get to continue to live a pretty great life regardless of what is happening in Iraq or elsewhere around the world or even what might be happening in another house down the block from me. How do I reconcile this?

hegemony 2 years ago

I don’t even know how to engage with this anymore. I find it so distressing to even think about the war, and yet it is all of our collective not wanting to deal with things that has allowed this war to occur and continue. I know that people are starting to wake up and express their discontent, but now the U.S. is starting to posture in a threatening manner towards Iran as well. How many more tens of thousands of people must die in the name of U. S. hegemony? Because that is what this war is really about.
