pay off my credit card

Well I always told myself that I would never get a credit card. Then one day American Express sends me an offer for a small limit and it was right at christmas time and I had no money for any presents that year. So I except determined to pay it off before the 12month interest free sign up offer expires. Well 2 months later they increase my limit again and then again and again, until it was more money than I make in 3 years. You would think that I would have self control but times got really hard when I had to transfer colleges and didnt have any money because I was working 2 days a week. So I paid the cell phone, heat, water, sewer and everything else that would accept American Express. Soon the limit was maxed out and I was at the end of the line for the free interest. Now I give Amex some credit. They lowered their interest rate for me without me even asking. So now I actually make head way when I have a chance to pay on it. I am never late nor ever miss a payment its just so damn high that it could take a long time to pay off. But thats my goal.
