I successfully completed the 100 push up challenge in January 2009, so it’s been awhile and I haven’t been doing that many push-ups since, so I’m back in the ring… I start week 2 today.

Finished week one of the 100 pushups, 200 situps, and 200 squats program.
No problem with pushups or squats. I hit my numbers on the situps, but they kill my back every time.
So I completed this goal back in January. By the time I finished it I was sick of push-ups so I quit doing push-ups entirely after hitting my 100 consecutive.
Now my nephew is wanting to get fit so to help him stay motivated my wife and I decided we would go through this program (again for me) and a couple others at the same time as him and we will all provide positive feedback to keep each other going strong.
Did my sets today and was back up to semi decent sets. I’m hoping it will take me about 2 months to hit the 500.

So this was one of my goals last year, and I finally hit the 100 back in early January. Since then I’ll do an occasion set or 2 of 50 to 60 push ups and pat myself on the back… but other than that I have really gotten away from doing push ups. I’m still going to the gym regularly and changing up my programs, but frankly I struggled so hard to get the hundred that by the time I hit the 100 I was absolutely sick of doing push ups. Now though it’s been over 3 months and my hatred for push ups has subsided and the love I had for them originally has returned to some extent.
So tonight I decided I would do my 5 sets and see how much I had backslid.
My sets were
50
35
40
45
50
Total = 220
This is a bit of a backslide from my sets just prior to hitting the 100. At that time I was doing on average 250 pushups across 5 sets, but wasn’t really struggling with it. So tonight I tallied 30 pushups less and it was all a struggle.
Also, about a month prior to hitting the 100 I was actually doing 300 to 350 across 5 sets, but then I had some backsliding while still doing the program due to the holidays, sick of pushups etc…
So now I am back at the 100 for a second round. I now have 2 goals here. My first goal is to hit the 100 consecutive again. My second goal is to do 500 across 5 sets, e.g. be doing regular sets of 100.
Wish me luck!
I can’t believe I finally completed this goal! By 85 I was hurting and the last 10 were absolute hell; my arms were shaking like hell, abs had completely given out, my back was screaming for me to stop. But I did it! Woohoo! This is a great start to the new year!
Did 5 sets of 50 tonight. Nothing to push too hard; just making sure I stick at it so I don’t go backwards anymore right now.
Did some biking today too, but I haven’t been to the gym much over the holidays. I’m going to start hitting the gym hard core again next week; planning to resume my Body For Life program. That should get me back to prime time soon.
So it’s been almost 2 weeks since I last did push-ups. I’ve got lost of excuses (holidays, aching back, blah blah blah). Bottom line is that I was being lazy and as a result I have lost some serious progress.
Tonight’s showing was pathetic when compared to my last few sets.
Set 1: 50
Set 2: 60
Set 3: 50
Set 4: 50
Max: 50
Total=260
That’s near a 100 push ups less than my previous set. Blah! And I was so close to the 100 consecutive too! I am extremely discouraged, but my resolve is also hardened.
