I think it takes a LOT to be a good rhythm player. I’m not just talking blah blah open chords, I mean actual rhythm and accenting with licks. Apparently, I’m improving! Someone commented that I play a lot better.
I have been trying hard not to be as sloppy with my strumming and also I have been picking a lot more to add texture. It’s hard not to strum sloppily though, when you are singing along!

Rhythmology

I went to some guitar tutorial website… guitarlessons.net, I think. And they had a tutorial I really enjoyed! I could only watch the first part, and to watch the rest, you have to buy the DVDs.
Rhythmology. I think it’s good for the adv beginner- intermediate player. I am so sick of watching tutorials on how to tune a guitar!

I am not a beginner guitarist. I’m not even bad. I’m pretty much stuck in the rhythm guitar rut, and I am so over it.
Speaking from experience, it really does help to have a good guitar. I’ve played my boyfriend Anthony’s Les Paul for a few demos, and I sound so much better!! Going from a crappy guitar to a good one always makes me feel more comfortable and confident.
Right now I have a cute little collection of Danelectros (I have three!), but I think it’s time for me to move up in the world. I am GASing (GAS= guitar acquisition syndrome) for a Gibson SG!
Also, I am quite amateurish when it comes to playing around with my amp settings. So I need to really stop being so lazy and figure out what can make my stuff sustain. I also need to learn more leads.
Corny but true: I’ve learned a lot by playing Guitar Hero songs on a real guitar! Mississippi Queen is the BEST for learning simple open-chorded blues & licks!
