i was watching this reality show about a beverly hills gym owner called “workout” or something—the gym is called sky sport or something like that. it’s your typical reality show, but i was interested in watching the trainers.

i can’t go to the gym regularly with the baby, but i have weights at home and i know some exercises that you use your own body weight instead of a machine. so, it was interesting to see the workouts and exercises the trainers show their clients because i can do a lot of them at home…with the right motivation, i mean!

i would LOVE to have a personal trainer right now, how do people afford it? it would be so nice to not have to be do it alone and to have someone motivating you and making you exercise. sometimes it’s hard to find the discipline to do it on your own.



walking w/the chicklet 2 years ago

we have been walking around the hills in our neighborhood and her tia’s neighborhood. good for the glutes! our neighborhood walk actually takes us up and down 3 flights of stairs and up around a big hill, it’s a nice walk.

we’ve also been walking-hiking (strange to say ‘hike’ in an urban park) in her tia’s area—lots of hills! the park is great; i can’t believe i used to run this path before i got pregnant! i run into another mom who runs w/her jogging stroller along the flat part. it’s a good run, but parts of the path are dusty and i’m a little concerned about the chicklet breathing in the dust.

i’m getting the jogging stroller fixed (tire tubes) and plan to use it when we go up to central CA for a few days. there’s a nice paved trail that goes to avila beach that i used to run when i lived there.



stairs 2 years ago

we found the stairs the other day. very cool exploration. there are 3 sets of not too steep stairs. they eventually lead to the frank lloyd wright house. it was a great walk through the neighborhood of huge mansions and beautiful homes.

we’re going to go for a run – ha! walk-run tomorrow. the chicklet likes being outside and it should be nice weather in the late p.m. weather is heating up again, bleh!



getting back to it 2 years ago

the little girl and i have taken the jogging stroller out a few times in the past couple of weeks. it’s sort of a bummer that the places i used to run and more like walk-runs now…aaahhh!!

we’ve also taken some good walks-there’s a park with a really cool trail near her dad’s house. if we take the trail “opposite” way, we go uphill vs. downhill and it’s a good workout for now! the baby enjoys being outside too and the weather has been nice, so it’s good to get out. there are also some stairs near the apt. our neighbor told us about-i’m planning to try and find them later today.

need to keep up the cardio and start yoga!

is the key and boy am i inconsistent! have not walked in a couple of weeks and i have not started yoga yet. i am not sure what the heck i’m waiting for, really. i need to start a routine and stick w/it and i know i can do it once i start.

it would be cool to have a trainer—so someone else is motivating you and making your workout decisions for you! ha! since i’m not a celebrity and i don’t have extra money, this is not going to happen! nice fantasy though.

i’ve been walking with the baby, which is fun and i look forward to it. she’s usually asleep in the bjorn within 10 minutes into the walk. this time of the year is perfect-it’s much cooler during the day!! i’ve been walking between 2 and 4 miles-the sad thing is that while i feel it’s good exercise for now, i used to RUN these paths!! i feel very out of shape!



slow start 3 years ago

literally…i used to run and be in pretty good shape, so walking is sort of frustrating. i feel like i want to start running! i’m walking w/my baby, so i can’t really run unless i do it w/the jogging stroller. so far, we’ve been on 2 walks this week, about 2 miles each. i chose some hilly routes to work the hips and butt!



starting now 3 years ago

i had my baby 9 weeks ago and i am going to start exercising to get back into shape. i didn’t gain a ton of weight, but things have stretched and moved and muscle-to-fat ratio has changed. it’s not bad,but i want to be shapely and slender again!
