1. Not knowing what day of the week it is.
2. A day with relatively little traveling after driving about 3000 kms over the past week.
3. Spending time with family celebrating the holiday season with a few more days in store.
4. A quiet walk outside in the dark.
5. Thinking about the wonderful family and friends that I have in life and online. A wonderful collection of amazing people.

1. Waking up in Montréal, one of my favourite cities.
2. Going for a walk and getting a coffee and a chocolatine.
3. Finding a wonderful stationary store filled with lovely notebooks. I also bought a new bag there.
4. Having a lovely dinner with both of my daughters.
5. Relaxing in a hotel room before the hustle and bustle of the Christmas celebrations of my family.

1. Waking up to sunshine outside.
2. Staying under the covers to warm up.
3. Getting the fire going in the wood stove to warm up the house.
4. Seeing the beautiful patterns of frost on the windows.
5. Making a pot of coffee.

1. A 9:30 am class which gives me a bit more time in the morning.
2. A productive afternoon catching up on some grading.
3. Running some errands after work.
4. Rewatching the third season of The Wire to prepare for watching season 5.
5. Finding the 43 Things iPhone app, which lets me update things using my iPod Touch.



5 things for which I was grateful on Saturday, October 10, 2009 2 months ago

1. Waking up when I woke up without needing an alarm (because it’s the weekend).
2. Having a nice cup of freshly-brewed coffee in the morning.
3. Going down to the Wolfville Farmers’ Market with my son in the rain.
4. Having some delicious pakoras and samosas for lunch.
5. Getting my hair cut. It’s the first time that my hair wasn’t cut by my mom (who is a hairdresser).



5 things for which I was grateful on Saturday, September 12, 2009 3 months ago

1. Waking up a little bit later than usual and seeing blue sky outside.
2. Biking downtown to go to the farmers market and getting all sorts of good food.
3. Going out to lunch and having a delicious omelet and a very tasty desert of Maple Creme Brulé.
4. Taking a 30+ km bike ride, which brought my total distance for the summer to over 800kms.
5. Having corn on the cob for supper.



1000 Grateful Entries 4 months ago

Remarkably I’ve continued to do this for every day for quite a while and now I’m right at the 1000 post milestone, so I will break with my obsessive retroactive posting of an entry for every day to mark the occasion of 5000+ things that I’m grateful for to share my gratitude related to this goal.
Here are 5 things that I’m grateful for related to the goal of sharing 5 things that I’m grateful for every day:
1. The wonderful people I’ve met through the goal. Up to this point they are all virtual.
2. The comments and cheers and interaction in this goal. Amazing and inspiring.
3. The feeling of accomplishment of sitting down and reflecting upon things that I’m grateful for.
4. The oasis of peace in the time I spend looking back over the days and the gratitude that I’ve shared.
5. The courage and honesty of the community here and the support and generosity which gives me inspiration and hope.

1. Sleeping in at home.
2. Grinding coffee beans and vacuum-brewing a pot of coffee.
3. Going in to the city to see “The Hangover” with my daughter. It was funny and fun.
4. Preparing for workshops that I will be teaching.
5. Relaxing at home.



5 things for which I was grateful on Thursday, August 6, 2009 4 months ago

1. Waking up in Fredericton after a long drive and a late night arrival.
2. Having breakfast before driving back to Wolfville.
3. Stopping in Sackville and getting freshly-baked bread, some coffee and lemonade.
4. Dropping a daughter off in the city before driving home.
5. Sleeping in my own bed. It was nice to be home
