Looking at my blog I see that I haven’t been updating it as much as I’ve wanted to. Things change over time and I was happy to organize some of my thoughts into a post I called small, specific, and real which is about the things that are compelling online. I want to focus on quality over quantity, but it’s the balance that I need to work on between everyday updates and monthly posts.

I think that I’m starting to get into the right groove for this. After switching the site (bitdepth.org) to WordPress and then using the Press Box theme, it seems a bit easier to post and I’ve actually been able to post for two days in a row with some variation in the topics and have another post scheduled to show up tomorrow.
To make it even easier, I also installed a plugin (WPhone) that lets me maintain and update the site from my cell phone. I don’t have many excuses not to post things anymore!
One of the things that seems to help me with updating is having some sort of a routine. One routine that I’ve followed for the past few years is making lists at the end of the year of best films, software, sites, etc.
But it’s still hard to keep all of the blogging balls in the air, but I’m trying to juggle a bit more and balance it all out.
I blog at bitdepth, bitdepth digest, and vox.
I have to try to figure out the voice or what I want to say on each one of these blogs to make it work a bit better.
It’s funny, but I haven’t thought of the entries I write on the 43 sites (Things, People, or Places) as blog entries. I cross-post from time to time, but in looking at All Consuming recently I realize that I’m posting fairly frequently. Part of my thinking in that way is how I segment what I write. On my main blog, bitdepth I try to write things that are more thoughtful and providing greater context. On bitdepth digest I cross-post things from 43 Things, Places and People and (very frequently) All Consuming. That doesn’t take into account the podcast that I’ve started (Bad Metaphor), but that doesn’t take up too much time. It’s making me realize that my infrequent writing on bitdepth is probably due to my much more frequent All Consuming writing. I’m going to try to adjust things to balance it all out.
