Sometimes we could put ourselves in position to meet these types of people. Other times it happens by luck. I don’t necessarily go out looking for them but I know it when I meet them! Many times it happens when I’m overseas b/c of the types of people traveling draws. Sometimes I just see these types of people on TV or I read about them. My goals is to surround myself by as many of these types of people as I can. They tend to be very positive and help me grow into a better person! One place where I’ve met these people has been on couchsurfing.com.

On tues I went to a Christmas party in my building and met a person who started her own company. She was a bit wacky but it was interesting and inspiring to meet her and talk to her about her venture. There were other people there who also had some interesting stories that inspired me. Starting my own company has been in the back of my mind but I still need to pinpoint exactly what and still work on my expertise.
Many times we’re around people and we hear what they have to say and they totally inspire or motivate us to do things. I met some people in Argentina who didn’t say anything to motivate me. Just seeing how they enjoy life and how they treat other people and how they enjoy their work really inspired me. Many times i have gone away coming back thinking about how I’d like to start a hostel. The one where these people worked was the epitome of what I’d like to have. The attitude and vibe just had so much energy and it was so carefree that even if I didn’t have an opportunity to work there or open one of my own, it inspired me to be more like that on a daily basis. Additionally, a special recently on Steve Irwin really reiterated everything above.
We were at this conference the last two days in the Palm Springs area. It was my department- about 40 of us. I still think that we need more fun and free time but apparently mgmt didn’t think so. My goal was to try to get around and meet more people, and I think I did that. Two people who I work with (not everyone is in our office) who I never really talk to spoke to me. That was cool. Actually, the second one is a person I went up to after she did a presentation at the end of the day. I found it very inspiring not only b/c it came from the heart but also b/c I could tell it was completely out of her comfort zone.
I went over to talk to her and congratulate her about it. Then we started talking about the committee she and I are on (they sort of pulled me into it a couple days ago b/c they wanted a guy). We started talking and it turns out that he passion is to be a life coach and she was talking about all this cool stuff. I am completely into this and it was so motivating to just listen to her talk about this stuff.
On the drive home I was thinking how strange it is that we might know someone who is super inspirational yet we don’t know who they are even though they’re practically under your thumb. I definitely would like to get to know he better as I feel we’re behind a year already!
The person who inspired me recently is someone I have known for a while- it’s my cousin Meaghan. I got to spend most of last week with her and she really motivated me to let loose more and just go with the flow. She dropped her corporate job recently to walk dogs. Maybe not her ideal job but one she enjoys and because of that she is just enjoying life, going out during the week nights, and lives fairly stress free. I also admire he fashion sense- she doesn’t wear anything expensive but she has stuff that is “out there” and not only looks cool but it gives her character. The timing was perfect as I was going thru a crisis the week before trying to remove myself from being all Banana R and looking for more creative, individualistic clothes. Clothes that represent how I feel and I sure don’t want to be like or look like anyone else!
I met this girl, Gly, at a frame store the other day. We bought a painting from Hong Kong and needed a cool frame to make it look good. After completely failing to find someone with a clue at the first place, this chick was not only knowledgeable but also interesting and inspiring. I appreciated her individuality and her passion for the arts… that really inspired us to get more involved in that “community”. For just living in LBC for a handful of days at the time, it gives us hope that we’ll meet many more people like her!
