Done.

I spent a couple weeks in remote parts of SE Asia and decided upon my return that I think I like the US and for the time being I have no aspiration to move anywhere abroad. Wow! This is a 180 from a couple yrs ago!

ARGENTINA!

What else is there to say? After going for 2 weeks I am in love. I am wanting to leave the US. I am ready for it. I am so ready for it. I just need to find a way to make it happen! I am going to start looking at options and see what happens! It’s time!

Argentina?

My company threw out possibilities of expanding into Latin America. Sounds good to me. I threw my name into the hat and we’ll see what happens. I don’t think this is anything near-term meaning not within the yr but we’ll see. I like that they have an int’l presence but I don’t like how cheap they are. It is making me look around for other opps. But if I am around and the opp comes up, I’ll be on the next plane out experiencing something new!

EU passport

I looked into getting an EU passport and basically my mom would have to re-establish herself as a citizen and then I would get it. She’d be willing to do it but it’s a pain in the ass. I wanted to get my siblings to do it but when we looked into it we noticed some things we weren’t too excited about. For instance, getting dual citizenship means the US won’t back you if you get in some trouble and I would much rather have the US backing me and bailing me out than about any other country. So I have to sit down and really decide whether it’s something I want to do. I know there are other ways to get jobs but having a passport would probably be the easiest way to do it.

Into the great wide open...

…under them skies of blue. OK, maybe not quite into no man’s land but I’d like to live abroad. Technically, this wouldn’t be the first time. I spent numerous summers in Poland of 3 months and lived in Mexico studying for 2 months last year. However, I would like to live abroad in the sense of having a job and being there for at least 6 months. Europe would be the most natural fit as my family is from there. I’d entertain other places including my beloved Sydney but I think it would be a much more difficult transition. One thing I know is being overseas or abroad for an extented period of time (more than a month) you start seeing what you miss and what you really appreciate about where you are. However, I have been to places I thought I’d never leave including Spain so I am very interested to see how the whole experience plays out. I don’t have plans to do this in the next 12 months but if the bug hits me, it’ll happen!
