My usual instructor was absent this week which was unfortunate. His sexiness makes class a) more enjoyable and b) apart from his sexy smile, he’s a really good instructor! He pushed us when he knew we could do more. He was gentle but firm. So instead, we had the assistant teach us who is also good. She had us practice moves on our own which was really helpful. I can float on my own and backstroke it! I felt really accomplished and ready to take on swimming for real! I’m so glad I took these classes. Now I can swim! Now its about practice to perfect my technique, but yes, I can so I can swim now. :)

This week I was practicing swimming with the front stroke as well as switching from stomach to my back while swimming. I’ve mastered floating, which is awesome, so I think I’ll be able to survive if I was thrown in the water. I also practiced staying underwater for a bit so I can used to it when I start to really swim. I think another batch of lessons will help but I have to look at my financial situation first. Next week, we will probably do some freestyle where we do three strokes breathe and then go under. Next week is my last lesson so I better make it happen! :)
My usual instructor was not around but I think I had a good lesson, nonetheless. I went over my front and back glides, I can float on my own with no assistance and I’m finally getting a hang of the backstroke. My front stroke is a little harder because I just kick and stay in one place. It’s okay though. I can throw myself in the water and swim though! Do I feel comfortable in the deep end enough though? I need a little more. But man, I am working it! It’s very exciting. I have two more lessons left! I might have to extend it. Either way, I’m having a blast. Can’t wait for next week.
I practiced my glides, breathed underwater and actually used my arms and legs to tread through water! I was swimming! Like real swimming! It was amazing but as soon as I realized it, I sank. It happens. I guess this upcoming lesson I’ll become more comfortable swimming and breathing. This is very exciting stuff. I can swim! :)
I showed up to class a little flustered because I was a little late but, it was kool. I learned how to turn over and blow bubbles from floating and also the beginnings of the backstroke. I still need to be a little more comfortable with floating and my form but once I get that solidly, I’m in. As much as I enjoy my swimming class and instructors, I wish I had more days to practice. I take it once a week with no practice in between (no access to a pool) and then I show up and do what I remember (which is not that hard). I think I’d get more comfortable if I really did it everyday. Maybe a local gym? I’ll look into it. Especially once I complete my swimming class at the end of the month. Yay! I’ll be halfway there! :)
I am progressing nicely. I can float easily now, breathe underwater and also kick my legs! Next, I need to be comfortable doing the backstroke. It’s so exciting. I never knew I’d enjoy swimming so much. Yay for this week’s swimming lesson!
On Friday, September 18, 2009, I took my first ever swimming class and it was So much fun! I blew bubbles (dunked my head underwater to see how long I can breathe), I floated on my back, I kicked using plastic barbells on my stomach and my back, I dove underwater like a torpedo and I also did that on my back. All of this in my first lesson! All I gotta do is get my comfortable floating and the rest should be smooth sailing from there. Oh yeah, and keep my stomach, neck and back firm while doing so. What form! I’m super excited. I can’t wait for my class next week!
