Read all of Shakespeare's plays

I haven’t even looked for my book yet, but I did watch Romeo and Juliet (the Leonardo Dicaprio version) last night to try to get back into the language. I don’t recommend that version at all! I think the producer and director and all the actors were on drugs. It sucked, and there were parts that didn’t follow the play – lines left out, changed, etc. – that even I could pick up on having not read that play in umpteen years. I can see though that I’m going to have trouble getting back into the language.

Bought his complete book of plays when I took a class on Shakespeare in college, and we read 6 plays – Hamlet, The Merchant of Venice, Macbeth, two of the Henry plays – IV and V I think (very boring), and King Lear. It was a fascinating class, so I kept the book, thinking that I would continue to read them, but I haven’t looked at it since. I’d love to read them all, but I don’t understand a lot of what’s going on. I’m going to try to find that book and at least read the Merchant of Venice again – it was my favorite of the ones we did, and I’d like to read Romeo & Juliet too. Maybe doing those will help me get back into the language.
