I asked my mom about this. She’s a master gardener, and she’s going to take me to the greenhouse with her in the spring. She said they have herbs there. I can’t wait!

It seems some herbs that grow well indoors are oregano and basil (YAY!), as well as mint, rosemary, lavender, and chamomile. I probably won’t grow mint, lavender, or chamomile as I’ve never used any of them, and the one time I tried using rosemary the results weren’t spectacular, but I have had dishes prepared by others (who knew what they were doing, lol) that were wonderful!
Anyway, it looks like I need to get a pot of some sort with good drainage, fill the bottom with gravel, and then the dirt. I also have to be careful not to water them too much.
This might wait until spring since I don’t know where I can get herbs around here in the winter, but I’m a little closer to this goal anyways.
what herbs I want to grow. I’m thinking definitely oregano since I use that one A LOT, cumin is the other I use, but I don’t think it’s an herb – pretty sure it’s a ground up seed. I’ll probably do basil too. I should maybe find out exactly which spices come from herbs and which are from seeds, etc.
Oh, and maybe find out where to get them and how to grow them. That might be helpful, lol!
I jazz up nearly everything I make with some type of herb or spice, but I’ve never used fresh ones. Only a couple are available in my town, and they’re very expensive. Come spring though, when I’m starting my garden, I’ll also start an herb garden in my kitchen and maybe a bigger one out with the regular garden, but I’ve never gardened before, so I don’t want to get over ambitious. I have bad luck with plants. I got a “bathroom plant” for my shower – you know, the plant you’re not suppose to be able to kill- yeah, I killed it.
