I have started taking sports training sessions at the Y three times a week, & it’s amazing how fast my muscle mass & balance has been coming back. I’m quite happy because my bad leg has been almost equal to my good leg. I hope to be in shape enough to run distance by the summer so I can do cross country in the fall. I would like to run a 5K in June but I’m not sure if that will be happening. Also, I need to start skating and doing TKD again. The thing about getting back into shape is it’s something you just have to do. Take running for instance; nearly every summer I take about a month long break. The first week running again is hell, but after that I become back in shape & I can run. It amazes me how many people want to lose weight instead of get in shape. The number on the scale really shouldn’t matter to anyone. In fact, muscle weighs more then fat. When I shattered my ankle I lost five pounds, & I’m only starting to gain that muscle back. You should judge yourself & your fitness by how it makes you feel, not by a number. If you feel like you are able to excercise more than you were before, & you feel better about your body, that is good enough. I’m going to continue becoming fit again, & everyone else should keep it up as well!
