Thanks to the tax refund. We also transferred a high rate card on to another card that offered 0%

We’re taking some savings to pay off another one. So that’s one less payment! Credit card debt is always an uphill battle but we’re moving in the right direction. It’s just a matter of time before all the credit card debt is gone.
I would really like to complete this soon, but that would require a large amount of cash. This is not something I could accomplish by getting a part time job at the coffee shop, although that would help. I need some kind of large money maker to do this.
I considered making a certain type of donation, but the places that do that are far and I’d have to figure a way to drive there and back during the week without being gone from my regular job too long.
I’ve also considered applying for that millionaire show with Howie Mandel, but I feel like that is a bit of a long shot.
I’m trying to do some brain storming here. Maybe what I need to do is come up with a list of ideas and just work on them all.
I’ve made a spreadsheet of all the cards, the amount owed, the interest rate, the avaliable credit, the monthly payment and I’m going to figure out the best way to consolidate them all onto 1 or two cards and get rid of the rest of them. I find if you call them you can get a lower interest rate, especially if you tell them you are transferring money to consolidate and you are going to cancel their card. They usually are willing to lower the rate on a transfer if it means they keep your business.
I think the best way to move forward with this is to make a budget. I never liked making budgets or writing resumes but they both stand to help you financially if you’re good at it, so …
There’s a show called Maxed Out about people who are in over their heads, it’s fun to watch. They have an excel budget template I downloaded and it’s a great check it out
On top of all with the bills my employer screwed up the payroll today!
We recently came into some money and paid a big chunk off one card. Hopefully we can keep moving forward. It’s tempting to use credit cards with Christmas coming up… :-)
What’s the best way to do it? I usually think if I start paying as much as I can every month on the card with the lowest balance I will be able to pay that one off the fastest and then have more cash each month to send to the remaining cards. But is that true, or would it be better to fist focus on the card with the lowest interest rate?
Sometimes I think it would be best to consolidate it and pay it all off at once, but I don’t know about that.
