I don't know 16 months ago

Originally I thought I should enter this under the ‘have multiple streams of passive income’ goal. They are really different ways of wording the same goal. What a sneaky way to get more cheers! hahahaha…

I am bored with my job. I don’t feel like I have the same drive other people do with their “career”. I really don’t care about my career; I just want to make money. I feel like there must be a better place for me to be in that respect, but I just don’t know where it is and I feel like these are things I should have figured out a long time ago. I can work hard and do a good job and maybe move up the corporate ladder, but why? So I can get a better parking spot or something? I feel like I’m back in high school sometimes, but then I realize I’m at work. Do you know what I mean?

Every so often I get an email from some kind of agency that found my resume on Monster and they want to tell me about a job opportunity that they think I should apply for. Usually it’s nothing I’m interested in, but today there was a position that sounded good; so I send in my resume and they got back to me within a few minutes. I get a call from them saying they showed my resume to the ‘hiring mangaer’ and they want to talk to me.

Then I call, and the guy not only sounds like English is not his first language, but he seems to know nothing about my resume. He asks me where I am currently working… um look at the resume you say you showed to the “hiring manager” its on there dude. Where do these companies come from? they are sending me info on jobs in MA and they aren’t even in the same state as I am, and he asks me 3 times if I am in MA. Why would I apply for a job in MA unless I lived there or was willing to travel???

Oh well… another reason to start your own business. Trying to find a job has become some kind of stupid game.

long term 1 year ago

This is going to be a long term goal. I think I am going to have to sit down and write out a plan. I think my first step is to start making more money in the corporate world, pay off all my credit card debt, and start building up my savings.

Then I can begin working on other streams of income. For example I’m thinking about vending machines, or maybe a laundrymat. Then I can focus on that income and if it gets to be enough I’ll consider leaving or at least I’ll be able to quit and not worry about the money aspect if I don’t like the job I have.

Is this new? 2 years ago

I’m remembering the stories they told me in history class about the poor serfs who worked and worked on farms but never owned anything. If the company I work for does well because of my efforts I don’t see that reflected in my paycheck. I can always bring it up at my annual review and hope for another %5 raise. However if I have my own business and I am working for myself I stand to lose or profit directly based on my work.
