Went to my daughter’s dance recital. So fun, so proud, so entertained. So lovin it, watching her do something she’s really, really good at. Worked at the farmer’s market for the last Sat. of the season for asparagus. Met a new vendor, had a nice talk with him, decided I’m going to try to do edible forest gardening (since I have 9 acres of forest) and maybe I’ll just sell it all at the farmer’s market! Woohoo!
went to the gym, planted an herb garden and cleaned out the gutters. This is very memorable because I will never forget that stinky smell of rotting leaves.
I went to a fundraiser with a high school friend @ the Oliver Winery to raise money for Rhino’s an all ages nightclub. In the raffle I won 6 yoga classes and he won a light, summer supper for 6. He gave it to me!
And now this morning I worked at the farmer’s market helping my cousin sell asparagus. I bought 4 different varieties of tomatoe plants from an organic grower, a ginko biloba tree, and some Old Kentucky Tomme cheese (amazing) from a local maker, plus a couple of little flowering plants just because they looked so sweet wrapped in the comics. I also taught my cousin’s son (age 16) the word ferklempt because he said he was trying to use “bigger” words, and I love this word. And now I’m off to do pottery. Not a bad weekend so far!
That’s a fabulous “thing” and one I’m going to try. So starting last weekend, I spent hours in the woods. I’ve been able to spend a lot of time at my log cabin after over a year of tenants occupying it. This was the big morrel mushroom weekend. Sadly though, I did not find one mushroom, but I did find plenty of peace and tranquility. The spring is the best for the woods because it’s not too hot, the vegetation is low so you can see a good distance, there aren’t any mesquitoes yet, the snakes are still sleepy and the tics are not plentiful. I layed on a log and stared at the treetops, watched the squirrels, picked up somebody elses trash and did a self portrait. It was bliss.
