I did it. I went to a jam and had a great time. I’m so glad I did it. It was a hoot. A gal in Brooklyn set up a jam through meetup. Brilliant!
The jam is twice a month. Unfortunately, I missed the one last week, but I’ll be back.

I started a few months ago and I’ve been amazingly dedicated to practicing the basics. I’m proud of my discipline even when it sounds like I’m moving backward, not forward. I love the sound of my semi-tortured rendition of Cripple Creek. But I know I’ve got to bum ditty with other banjo players to really get going. That’s what it’s all about.
I’m sure if I screw up the courage to do it once, I’ll dig it. A wise instructor says you can’t really hit a wrong note. Stay in rhythm and you’re holding up your end. I just have to ignore my performance anxiety and jump in. Nobody cares how good you are, I’m told. I’m skeptical. I just have to do it to believe it.
