...but I’m still in doubt whether to take a new course next semester. I’m afraid I can’t be bothered, but I know that the next time I will be in France I’m going to be frustrated that I still can’t speak it fluently!

Not going very well: skipped French class yesterday, and next week is the last lesson! And I’m not sure if I want to do a new course next year, I don’t know if I want to make the effort of doing all the homework and stuff. But then that’s my problem: I want to improve my French, but I don’t actually want to put any work into it. I just wish it would come to me naturally, which obviously is never going to happen!
I don’t know what to do, but luckily I have until the beginning of January to figure that out.
So I tried to listen to French radio, but gave up quickly because it’s pretty crazy ‘cause they talk so fast! I think in addition I might have to get some CD”s by French singers, that way I only have to concentrate on the words for 3 or 4 minutes instead of keeping up with an hour of talking…
I did some quizzes on the internet, on subjects like French life, French celebs, French cheese… Not so much to learn everything there is to know about French celebs, but this way I get to read the language in an informal and casual manner, so I get used to the language on a day-to-day basis.
I also read somewhere that a good way to practice your French outside of class is to get a good old French penpal (err, email-pal). So now I have to find and make French friends…
I asked my teacher if she knew of some good websites or radiostations in French, and she send me 29 pages full of links! Now I have to actually go and listen to this stuff, but it’s once again a (small) step forward!
I just thought of this: maybe I should get some (err, maybe start with ONE) children’s books in French. They’re obviously way easier to understand than adult books, and that way I can keep up with reading too, instead of just speaking.
Which reminds me: DOWNLOAD SOME FRENCH PODCASTS YOU LAZY WOMAN!
I did my homework for tonight (some reading which I understood pretty well), and actually made a good overview for myself of the types of verbs and how they work, and glued it into my notebook. I’m so proud of myself! Now I have to learn it, obviously, but hey, all things in good time!
Tonight French conversation course again, it’s just that it doesn’t actually feels like I’m improving my French (I’m in the 7th week of the course). I do my homework and stuff, but maybe I should realise that it’s not gonna come by itself! Maybe I should listen to French radio, read French tabloids (they’re definitely easier than the proper newspapers!) and actually revise my notes from previous lessons! I’m just too lazy I guess… Allez, etudier la langue! (Or something)
