this was worth it only because i paid Network Solutions $12 (per year) to forward my domain name to my TypePad URL. it was definitely worth the $12 to make this headache go away and get everything working right! and in a matter of seconds, no less.
if you have no experience with hosts, aliases, CNAMEs, domains, etc., pay the extra cash to have the professionals take care of it for you. you won’t regret it.

heh. why did i think this would be easy? if you type “bloggochicago.com” (without “http://” and/or “www.”) in your browser’s address bar, it takes you to an Under Construction page, which is fine. however, when i activated the domain mapping feature in TypePad, and republished my blog as instructed, i still got the Under Construction page. but when i typed in the original URL, “http://bloggochicago.blogs.com,” i got to my blog all right, but the layout was all screwed up! like, there was no layout! argh!!!!!

i’ve finally made a move on this and have registered the domain name “www.bloggochicago.com” at Network Solutions. i went through the domain mapping steps at TypePad and have no idea if i’ve done it correctly. i edited the DNS something-or-other at Network Solutions and have no idea if i did that correctly.
this is turning out to be a bigger pain in the ass than i thought it would be. all i want is for the little URL address thingy to read, “http://bloggochicago.com” and have my blog at that address. is that too much to ask for, from someone completely ignorant about this whole domain name thing? Jesus Christ. it was easier to change my name back to my maiden name after my ex-husband and i were divorced.
