spend at least 10 minutes every day cleaning, organizing or decluttering

Thu – spent the morning cleaning before my parents arrived. The house was already pretty good so I didn’t have much to do. The bedroom was a mess but I was pressed for time so I only threw stuff into the closet to hide it. Have to get to work on the bedroom soon!

Fri – the only cleaning I did was washing baby stuff and cleaning up after our meals. I did vacuum, but I do that every day because our dogs shed so much.

Saturday – again only cleaning up after meals – my parents left but my in-laws arrived, so not much time to do serious cleaning.

Sunday – still just maintaining the house – in-laws leave tomorrow but them I’m going away for a week. Nothing is getting accomplished in this house until I get back next week! boo!

Spent a couple of hours today cleaning the baby’s room and packing up the clothes she grew out of. I’m also trying to keep up with the areas of the house that are already clean so they stay that way! I’m hoping once I get the house cleaned and organized I will be able to spend just 10 minutes a day to keep it that way!

Monday – spent at least an hour straightening and cleaning. Why does it still feel like I’m not getting anywhere?

Tuesday – spent about 5 hours cleaning today. I have a paperweight that says “the ultimate inspiration is the deadline,” and unfortunately that is all too true for me. The only times my house is immaculate is when I know someone is coming over to visit. Although my parents are coming on Thursday, I still hadn’t gotten everything done – until my best friend called last night and said she was coming over today. Now, my house is spotless. But what I realized is if anyone dropped by unannounced I would be mortified most of the time. Now that it’s clean (well, most of it – the office and bedrooms need a lot of work), I need to keep in mind that anyone could drop in at any time.

One major problem is not having the office organized – the mail tends to pile up everywhere and DH and I use other areas of the house to work so clutter gathers everywhere. I have two projects being planned right now – getting the office under control and cleaning and redecorating our bedroom.

I actually spent a couple of hours cleaning and organizing. My parents are coming to visit on Thursday so I have motivation to get the house in order!!
