Yay! Step one accomplished!

I finally got the sewing machine I received for my wedding out of the box and threaded and such. My mother was visiting this weekend and she was a great help in getting it done. I played around with it a bit just to get a feel for it and to figure out how to work everything.
Next step is to learn how to sew in straight lines! I was getting better today, so I think it’s just going to take some practice. I’m using some of my husband’s old t-shirts for now, so I can get used to hemming and keeping it even. My first project once I feel comfortable will be to hem the curtains in my living room. The previous owner left these beautiful scarves up, but the edges are all ragged and my puppies keep pulling at the loose threads.
