Blessings in disguise

Something very terrible was done to me and my family. At the time, I was heart broken and had never been hurt more or more betrayed in my life.

Today, I am still angry about what happened. But it turns out that it was absolutely the best thing that could have happened in that situation. Now, all I have to do is sit back, relax, and gloat that I don’t have to deal with it while the people that did it to me do have to deal with it!!! :)

I know, I shouldn’t gloat … but it is so hard not to!!!

The elderly

We are all going to die.

Most of us are going to be old one day.

We should all have patience with our elders … one day we will be the elders.

Stressing out about making sure your baby is smart

American parents of this generation’s children are so worried about making sure their children are overly intelligent, excessively creative, capable of speaking and reading very early, and making sure they excel early-on in every area of life. In order to accomplish this, parents enroll their children in Kindermusic and various other classes/groups, they buy them products to help them speak and read at one or two years of age (Your Baby Can Read and countless other products), and if their child cannot speak or read, they feel like epic failures.

Despite all the good intentions and so-called learning opportunities being forced down our children’s throats, America is producing some of the dumbest students on the planet.

Now I am not saying that we shouldn’t read to our children or encourage them to learn. What I am saying is that I am finally going to refuse to stress out that my child “may” be behind in speaking and reading. I am going to let my baby play and be a baby and enjoy being a little person.

Subtitles

I have always wondered what the heck the difference was in movies with subtitles in “English” or “English SDH”. I finally figured it out the other day.

“English” subtitles give you dialogue only.

“English SDH” subtitles give you not only the dialogue, but other information as well … such as:
the type of music playing
sounds in the background
sounds that actions are making
etc.

School zones

I used to think it was completely ridiculous to have a 20 mph speed zone around high schools … certainly they are old enough and smart enough to look both ways before crossing the road, not play in the road and to know that they will lose in a battle with a car. Then I realized that a 20 mph speed zone is necessary ONLY AROUND high schools. Elementary and middle schoolers still believe they have to be careful. High schoolers are arrogant enough to believe that the world revolves around them and that they can step out in front of a car and the driver will stop on a dime and not hit them … even if they are only fifteen feet away.

Cats vs. Dogs

I have final and definitive proof that people prefer dogs over cats. For those of you that live in the country or small/medium-size towns or in the suburbs, when was the last time you saw a dead dog on the side of the road? Now, when was the last time you saw a dead cat on the side of the road? Currently living in the country and having lived in medium-sized towns my entire life, I have never seen a dead dog on the side of the road … never. But I see dead cats on the side of the road three or four times a week. What does this mean? This means that people not only prefer dogs, but also have a deeper emotional attachment to dogs.

I rest my case.

60 degrees

Isn’t interesting how in the Spring 60 degrees seems nice and warm and in the Autumn it seems freakin’ cold?

Movies

I watch a lot of movies while I feed my son. Lately, I have been catching a lot of things that I have never caught before.

Quite sad really

I put this thing on here in June. I have had gazillions of incites on life and whatever. Sadly, I have not documented any of them. And there were some good ones!!! I can’t remember most of them either!

It all began bright and early yesterday morning ...

I was on Facebook looking at the profiles of some old friends from school … people I haven’t spoken to in ten years. I was amazed to see how many of the women were married and how many had children. I quickly came to a realization that I posted on my wall on Facebook:

“Have you ever stopped to think about what an amazing thing it is to be married? To actually find some one you truly love and then have them truly love you too? And that you actually found that person in a world full of six and half billion other people? Shouldn’t the odds of finding that person be next to nothing? And yet people get married every day!”
