So while grappling with unemployement, a blizzard of other ideas, and the psychosis of unemployment, I came up with a 15 minute short. The original draft would involve a loving John Woo tip of the hat smack in the middle of a comedy.
Needless to say, the scene stood out.
...and it would cost a bajillion dollars for squibs, rigging, and blanks alone, plus about a week to get the scene done with the proper number of shots.
So…
pfft! Gone in the rewrite!
Sure, I still need a handful of squibs and blanks, but it is only for one angle, one take.

It damn near killed me the last time, but that was with unhealthy deadline (only twelve hours?!) and a bleak mass production mindset (it was the seventh of eight shorts produced over a nine week period).
For all the documents forged, pills popped, and relationships strained, I would do it again.
This time I will get it right.
