Parsley CPR
Ack! Yesterday was the end of week 2 for my herbs and they are fine except for something icky on a few of the mint leaves (??) and the near-death of the parsley, probably because I suck at this regular-watering business. The rosemary seems fine, and I’m probably the ideal owner for the aloe.
I watered everything and trimmed the parsley (for something so close to dying, it was still shooting up incredibly fast), so we are back on track.
I’m not sure when this goal can be marked complete. What’s an admirable amount of time in which to not kill an herb?

It’s my herb garden’s birthday tomorrow (the big One Week) and I’m awfully proud they aren’t dead.
Also, it’s not technically an herb, but we got a bit overexcited about the impending holidays yesterday and bought a potted Xmas tree. I’m tacking the responsibility of maintaining it’s spiky little life to the herb goal because it’s another plant to water.

IT’S PLANTED! Hooray!
I went to the farmers market and bought rosemary, mint, Italian parsley, and on a whim- an aloe plant. If I get a cut or a sunburn I can chop off a leaf of it and rub the juice on my skin to help it heal. As for the rest, they are for cooking of course! I’ll see how it goes with this bunch before getting any more, I have room for several in the 2nd kitchen window and would still like chives, basil, oregano, and the superyummy CHOCOLATE MINT plant at the market :)
I’ll leave this as an incomplete goal until I prove that I can keep these alive and get some more.
This made me so happy. I wish I’d done this a long time ago.

Today we went to IKEA so I could get a neat hanging rack-thing (I forget the name, some typical IKEA cat-hairball sounding thing) and a bunch of pots that hang off it.
Next step: Thingy installation and hitting the weekend Farmer’s market for some herbs

To start I am researching good herbs to put in the window/on the windowsill. Because that’s the only place we have for them!! No yard, no space on the balcony where they wouldn’t be trampled or knocked 2 stories to their potted deaths.
Next step: buying pots and soil..
