I don’t mean to sound like a snob but…it is hard for me to come to grips with someone who has had a, what shall I say, less than stellar past. While it is in the past, and he must be congratulated for being honest and admitting his addictions and brush with the law to me, it is still hard to comprehend because I came from such a sheltered upbringing. I have to ask myself if I should even bother pursuing this relationship even further.

I built up your self-esteem and made you feel handsome, desired.
I overlooked the rolls of fat and excess skin, the remnants of an overweight child, and only saw the man you had become.
I didn’t see the façade but, looked within and only saw beauty.

Still a hardened heart made out of stone does not transform into beating flesh.
If the heart is not alive at the outset then the man becomes a beast.
On a path of destruction, nothing can be done to alter this sad conclusion.
This tale is without a happy ending.

I am almost about ready to crawl under a rock because it is safer! I finally got out there after being in hibernation for several months and I started dating again. We both seemed to be getting along and the chemistry was there, but he wouldn’t tell me too much about himself. Well…I finally got it out of him today. HE IS MARRIED (and has 2 kids)!! Can I pick ‘em, or what? I am glad that the relationship hadn’t progressed very far, but I feel like I’ve been played for a fool.

Okay, he never loved you (or maybe he did), but he fell out of love just as quickly. Snap out of it! right? If only it were that easy. I should have been forewarned when he told me that he believed in more than one soul mate.

The question is: Can you start a relationship if you don’t feel the butterflies? Is it true that if you’ve been friends for a long time it is hard to change to something else?
