I’ve tried to read the Bible three or four times, with little success. I think I made it through Genesis the first time, through Exodus the second time, and started the New Testament the third time.
I started reading the Bible again about a month ago, and I’m about 10% of the way through it. I’m done with Genesis, Exodus, and Leviticus… Matthew, Mark, and part of Luke, as well as most of Psalms.
The method I’m using this time is a bit different. I downloaded an app on my phone (I think it’s YouVersion), and set myself up with a reading plan via the app software.
Since I bring my phone everywhere, I read a little when I feel compelled, interested, or “thirsty” for it. That sometimes translates to in bed, waiting for others, riding an elevator, or on the toilet. :-)
My goal was originally to finish it by the end of 2010, but I found myself reading to complete rather than to digest. I’m going to extend my goal to 6/30/2011, which should be plenty of time to read and get great value from my reading.
