cottage cheese with chives- yum

I probably haven’t eaten cottage cheese since i was a child and my mother went on some cottage cheese based diet. It is surprisingly good.



south beach diet?

I have done some research and maybe I’ll try this for a few weeks as I definitely need to eat fewer carbs, and after losing 25 pounds my weight loss has slowed drastically . I’m suspicious , though, of any diet that forbids fruit, even if it is just for a few weeks. I don’t know if I can do this, as I vastly prefer carbs over protein, and I don’t think this is something I could be so strict about for very long. And the changes you can sustain over the long term are the ones that keep weight off.



Boca chili

Has a lot of protein, but taste is not so great. While I don’t really notice the texture of the fake meat in the lasagna, it is more noticeable here. Also , the beans are very skimpy, and I find this surprising in a vegetarian chili.

Not bad. The faux meat was certainly chewier than beef, but that wasn’t too bad. The tomato sauce pretty much obscured the flavor, so I can’t comment on that. I’d eat this again, as there was a good amount of protein and fiber, both of which I am concentrating on.



Turkey bacon!

Wellshire Farm all natural turkey bacon. Yum. Not really like real bacon, but reasonably so ( much more so than than veggie fake bacon) , and so much healthier you can eat an ENTIRE package with no regrets.



but not as part of a crazy diet (like atkins)

I’ve been keeping a food diary for months but I have been tracking only calories and fiber. I knew I was not eating that much protein, but I was surprised by how little once I started adding up the grams. I like meat ( but not the way most of it is raised) but I don’t buy much of it, I mostly eat meat when I go out. I’m not a big fan of soy, and I’d rather eat things naturally high in protein than processed foods with soy or other protein added in. For dinner I’m planning a salad with chicken breast, egg, avocado and bacon. Too much fat, probably, but yum.
