I got one on my left inner wrist today. It was sort of a tribute to my dad for passing down his Beatles obsession to me and my younger brother. When I was little, he used to play Paul McCartney’s song “Blackbird” to me all the time before I went to bed. One of my favorite lines in that song is: All your life/ You were only waiting for moment to be free.
So I got the guitar chords to that verse and, well, got a tattoo for it. I survived in spite of my fear of needles. The guy, Shawn, was really sweet and talked me through the whole thing. It hurt – felt like someone was slowly ripping my skin apart with a ball point pen, but other than that the pain’s pretty bearable.
