She just started kindergarten 3 weeks ago and is much much much better on week days… hummm….. school days!! Well that’s it.. she behaves way better on school days than weekends, so I took advantage of this and had a good talk with my 5 YO big girl about lying, whining, hurting the kitten, arguing, ... She seemed to understand and with a few reminders and positive reinforcement… it looks like it’s going to work!!
I sure hope it will because she is driving nuts lately.

The last two have been pretty hard. I was home alone with both kids and the weather was pretty bad (rain every other day). So, after a couple of days, the kids couldn’t get along and I couldn’t do much with the bad weather. In the end, we all survived, but for the first time I wished we lived in a big town with lots of things to do inside!!

The weather was awful during the holidays. We had rain and heat instead of cold and snow. I wanted to go skating, skiing and sliding with the kids, but we ended up staying inside most of the time. Still, it was good having slow paced time with them and we did all kinds of things together. We had tickle fights, we played games, we played computer games, we watched movies, we did puzzles, we went shopping and once or twice, we played outside. So, I guess spending time with them was a good way to be a good father.

I went to meet with my son’s teacher and going there, I just felt like slapping her for all the negative comments she had made about his work in his books. Instead, I was quite good and managed to get her to say he needed better supervision in his work and that she would try to help him a bit more. I also suggested to have him tested for A.D.D. and she saw it as a revelation! I don’t think my son has A.D.D. but at least now she’ll be off his back and maybe she will try to help him instead of pushing him down…. we’ll se what happens in the next weeks! :)

I know I don’t spend enough time with my kids, it’s one of my goals, but I’m not sure I’m doing a god enough job as a father too. Especialy regarding school. I’m a teacher and I can’t help my son with his homework because we get angry at each other every time we do thenm together. On respect, tv time, bed time and other stuff, I think I’m OK, but on chores and homework… god I wish I could do better.
