I feel so bad... 2 years ago

We just came back from Walt Disney World in Orlando… and god is there a lot of trash over there. I mean the place is clean… very clean, but unless they have a sorting facility where they sort trash from recyclable material…. I could hardly find somewhere to recycle my water bottles. Now I’ll have to stick to rigorous green attitudes for the next few week to make up for those 2 weeks of…. well not so green weeks!!

After watching the Live Earth show 2 years ago

on TV, I dicided to do as much as I possibly could without ruining myself to reduce the impact my family has on our dear mother Earth. I compost almost everything I can and soon I’ll start vermicompost (worms), so I can keep going at it during winter months. I try to recycle all that I possibly can and it’s giving nice results. Las week, when the garbage collectors passed in our street, My recycling bin was full, but ther was only one bag in my garbage bin. I ordered the “Live Earth survival guide to climate change” and I signed up for a membership with WWF Canada. Last but nnot least, I intend to restart the Green Team with my students when school resumes. I’m pretty proud of what I’m doing, I just wish more people thought like me… especially decision makers!

CATEGORY GLOBAL HECTARES

FOOD 2.6
MOBILITY 0.2
SHELTER 0.9
GOODS/SERVICES 1.1

TOTAL FOOTPRINT 4.8

IN COMPARISON, THE AVERAGE ECOLOGICAL FOOTPRINT IN YOUR COUNTRY IS 8.8 GLOBAL HECTARES PER PERSON.

WORLDWIDE, THERE EXIST 1.8 BIOLOGICALLY PRODUCTIVE GLOBAL HECTARES PER PERSON.

IF EVERYONE LIVED LIKE YOU, WE WOULD NEED 2.7 PLANETS.

Not too bad, I was at 3.4 planets back in August, but still not good enough.
