I have been looking but there are not a lot of artists who write.
I ‘ve read writings by Rothko, Reinhardt, Bridget Riley and Mondrian. But I cannot find contemporary artist who write about the place art has/should have in the world the way these people did.
I’ll keep looking.

One seems to ‘see’ more in a piece of art if you know more about the ideas behind it. (Although this should not allow the piece to be dull upon first sight.)
However, it is hard to find good things to read about art. Yes, there are magazines…but that’s mainly critics writing.
I feel writing about one’s art is part of the euvre.
Right now, I am reading writings by Mark Rothko and by Bridget Riley.
