I was browsing the offerings at a book sale last weekend when I ran across a copy of Aaron Copland’s book “What to Listen For in Music”. Even if it’d been full-price, I might have snagged it anyway, to help me learn how to use my ears; at 50 cents, it was a no-brainer.

Can't tell Bach from Brahms 4 years ago

If you hummed or played a piece for me, I might know that I’ve heard it before (and could even hum along), but couldn’t tell you anyone else. When the dust settles from our move, this will be a project I can dive into.
