... and turned in some of the paperwork. It was nice to cross things off the list, though there’s still a lot more to do before we can have the home study. I find it a bit funny (and ironic) that the autobiography doc instructs us to be brief, and then asks us a million questions about just about every part of our lives. But I’d rather they were thorough than otherwise.

It’s in an envelope, ready to go out in Monday’s mail. One item on the checklist down, millions more to go!

... and was very impressed with how thorough the director was in presenting all the requirements and issues. The one thing that gives us pause is that, as a same-sex, legally married couple, we’d have to pay considerably more than straight couples (for lawyers to deal with all the other states).

... to help pay for the little one’s education (once s/he is ready). It’s only $50 to start with, but it’s something.

We’ve been talking to some folks who have either adopted or are currently in the process of adopting. One couple told us about the agency they were using; we checked out the website last night and e-mailed a request for an information packet.

Once we settle into our apartment, we’ll start to research this in earnest, beginning with some links forwarded to us by friends. We’ll also be looking for a house; a two-bedroom apartment might be enough space for two of us plus a little baby, but we’d soon outgrow it.
