2 Samuel 1:1 - 15:1-37 2 years ago

_Decided to catch up on my reading being that I had the day off. I like the idea of review. I find that the text moves so quickly both in time and emotional gravity, so the segmented organized reads are good for one who pours themselves in the text and feel overwhelmed at times. The review put it into better context.
I am finding myself growing as a person, a man, a citizen and a leader. Though much of my reading the old Testament has been dealing with the rise of Israel, I can digest the simpleness of the age and extrapolate it well in my growth as a spiritual man in a very modern sophisticated world.
Though the situations are violent, it maybe appropriate to the psyche of the modern man. I think the modern man, religious or not, has a need fills this void through the past time of watching professional sports, In particular professional football. As a result of this insight, I am less likely to accept arguments that the bible is not relevant.
One particular concept that is ringing through my mind, is the idea of the agreement. God makes agreements or covenants with men, Kings make agreements with other Kings, and men with other men. Upto this point, I have considered myself knowledgeable on many subjects, and like most trying to manage the plethora of daily tasks. As a result, I think the idea of the soldier, who fights often becomes the appropriate image or mantra to have. But I think, the next step really is the agreement, and to have more of a diplomatic approach toward those demands._

2 Samuel 13:1-39; Daniel 7:1-28; Mark 5:1-43 2 years ago

2 Samuel 13:1-39

This is not really what I wanted to read, after a few days of spiritual and personal confusion, due to loosing my routine. I think it’s important not to think change change change, or else your system will overload. I’m learning in my quest that there are some things that I didn’t know were in the bible. I am not sure what to gleen from this passage. For it talks about the rape, and the revenge of for woman’s rape with the killing of David’s son. I am sure there is a lesson to be learned.

Daniel 7:1-28

I think the book of Daniel gets into some end time revelations. I’m sure it will take some outside reading to put it into perspective. However, this passage is talking about a Daniel’s dream and visions of four great beasts, each different from the others, came up out of the sea.

Mark 5:1-43

Jesus removes demons from man and into pigs.

2 Samuel 4:1-12; 2 Samuel 5:1-25; Daniel 2:24-49 2 years ago

2 Samuel 4:1-12
2 Samuel 5:1-25
Daniel 2:24-49
_Wasn’t a good read today. I decided to read some existential thought before my study. today it was Nietzsche. “He wrote that untruth, injustice and illogic (under the cover of truth, justice and logic) were the qualities that allowed the human race to survive.”
It caused be to loose my focus. I am realizing, that I love studying ideas and thoughts. But at this point in my life, I see no purpose in contemplating thoughts too long, if they don’t lift my spirits or get me to a better place in my life. So with this thought, I’m thinking that I can use it to understand people who don’t have an understanding of a basic code or truth, and find ways to minister. Otherwise, situations like this cause me to doubt myself. I’m thinking that Philliapina 4:8 is appropriate “Think on these things: for the rest brethren whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverance and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious anything worthy of praise, think on and weigh and take account of these things.
