I was sick, sick, sick in May & June. After numerous expensive and invasive tests, several different doctors didn’t/couldn’t/wouldn’t find anything wrong, didn’t care and didn’t seem to give a rat’s butt about helping me get better.
So now I’m at the chiropractors 3 times a week, and one of the things I do there is exercise.
I’m also exercising at work and home to improve my posture, neck, and ab muscles. So…there ya go.
If you can’t or won’t do it for vanity, you’ll damn sure do it when the alternative is feeling like crap and/or death.

A new gym opened pretty close to my house. I joined in April while they were still in construction. They said their goal opening date was August 1, but hoped to be ready by June. Well, June rolled by. July. August 1. Finally, mid-August, they sent out email to all the members that they were waiting on lockers for the dressing rooms but would be open after that.
OK. Another week went by. Then they sent out email that they were waiting on city inspections but hoped to be open by the 15th.
Finally, August 28 or 29, they sent out email saying “yay! We’ll be opening August 30!”
Naturally, I had plans to be out of town for Labor Day Weekend, so I didn’t make the opening day festivities.
BUT!!
I went 3 times this week: Tuesday, Thursday, and this morning (believe me, this morning was a trial. I really wanted to stay in bed and continue what we were doing…)
If I can go 3X a week for the rest of this month, I will go ahead and cross this one off the list. My friend e. says it takes 2 weeks to develop a habit of any kind. So by the 1 month mark, I should be very well entrenched in my gym-schedule and perhaps even showing some results.
I think I will plan on giving myself one thing off my wishroll wishlist every month as a reward for going to the gym consistently, starting with this:

I hope that isn’t too self-indulgent.

I’m taking care of a dog while her owner is out of town; I’ve been walking her about 15 minutes every morning and evening during the week, and then we go for a big 1 hour walk on Saturdays.
My friend e. says it takes a month to make something a habit. I have 2 more weeks!
