In the wake of the tragic events at Virginia Tech last week, I’m hearing a lot of people talking about the need for stiffer gun control laws. Dennis Kucinich is even talking about a handgun ban!
I don’t know about you, but the thought of my government being the only entity allowed to own weapons is pretty terrifying. And let’s also consider that the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution specifically gives us the right to bear arms. A ban on guns would therefore be unconstitutional.
Granted, murder is a horrible act, and weapons in the hands of people who will use them for that purpose is a bit scary. But there will always be crazy and violent people walking this planet, and there will always be a black market for guns. I like what both Ron Paul and Ted Nugent have to say on the issue of gun control. To wit:
