Ok, based on what I could gather in the past week, there are a couple of different ways in which the mp3’s are not properly tagged:
- missing tags alltogether
- tag information is just completely wrong
- tag information is incomplete (ie. missing album etc.)
- tag information is slightly wrong (ie. typos)
- tag informattion is garbled by attention wanting warez sites
The task of getting them all correct is pretty gigantic. It’s not possible to do it in one step, or use a single tool (or maybe I don’t know it yet). For 1 and 2, the MusicBrainz taggers would be great. For 5 I need a tag editor of some kind.
