Ok, based on what I could gather in the past week, there are a couple of different ways in which the mp3’s are not properly tagged:
  1. missing tags alltogether
  2. tag information is just completely wrong
  3. tag information is incomplete (ie. missing album etc.)
  4. tag information is slightly wrong (ie. typos)
  5. tag informattion is garbled by attention wanting warez sites

The task of getting them all correct is pretty gigantic. It’s not possible to do it in one step, or use a single tool (or maybe I don’t know it yet). For 1 and 2, the MusicBrainz taggers would be great. For 5 I need a tag editor of some kind.
