Learning Esperanto got shuffled to the back of the queue, since there is a lot of other stuff occupying my brain right now..

Me estas ne esperantisto, sed mi malrapide lernas kaj progresas.
Yeah, I still don’t know how to find the toilet, but I can say “Kiam? Kiam? Diru min!” [1] while doing a potty dance. Folks should generally get the idea from that.
1 “Where? Where? Tell me!”
It’s only been in the last week that I started putting real effort into learning Esperanto. The idea of an international language has always been interesting to me, and Esperanto seemed the most attractive of the bunch. It’s simple, straightforward, and reads nice once you get the hang of it. I’ll get to Spanish and Japanese later. Right now, I just want to learn a fun language, not one where I feel desperately self-conscious around native speakers1.
I’m working my way through Lernu! at the moment, in particular the Bildoj kaj Demandoj section. It’s just pictures and questions. I can handle that.
I might even try an all-Esperanto LJ account, just so I can practice putting together sentences about the trivial affairs of my day.
1 Instead, I can feel a little self-conscious around skilled speakers.
