Oh yeah, I did this a couple of months ago

I need to go back and get the lenses worked on some more, since the vision is blurrier than my older glasses. Still, the frames themselves are fantastic.

4 years overdue and counting

You’re supposed to get your eyes checked every two years if you’ve got vision problems. Well, I’ve been wearing the same glasses since the summer of 2000. Even if my prescription is the same, these glasses most definitely are not. They’ve been sat on, thrown, smooshed, and attacked by cats. The right lens has fallen out maybe a dozen times, and I’m always twiddling the screw in the frame on that side1. The hard to clean areas are getting downright disgusting (or retro grunge nerd, if you prefer). Plus, Brooke’s not fond of their style in the first place.

Eventually, I want to get that cool eye surgery done – lazik or one of the other procedures – but that is a major investment which will take time to save up for. Yes, I know you can do financing, but my fluid job situation strongly suggests that I save up rather than sign a promise to pay later.

So for now it’s going to be simple: go get my eyes checked, and find some reasonably stylish lenses2 to wear for the next two years. Two years, not six.

The secret shame of all this is that I used to work at an eyewear place. I really should know better.

1 Why always the right side? Is it because I usually take my glasses off with my right hand?

2 Approved by Brooke, of course.
