Practice the Four Agreements: Be impeccable with my word/ Don't take anything personally/ Don't make assumptions/ Always do my best

Work, and certain people at work, are not to be trusted. It’s very difficult to practice the 4 agreements around them when I know they’re lying and scheming. I guess the Creator is giving me opportunities to practice.

A coworker told me that another coworker said I made a certain statement about the 1st coworker, which I never made. The 1st coworker and I had already discussed the issue before the 2nd coworker ever discussed it with me (or the 1st coworker), so the 1st coworker knew in advance what I had actually said. What does this have to do with the 4 Agreements? Today on the commuter van, the 2nd coworker was reading the book. Also, my word is impeccable, or as close as I can get to it. I will tell someone if there is a problem, and then try to work things out so everyone wins. I will not take this personally (although my first response was to run to coworker #2 to let him know I know he lied – or misunderstood), but I’ve decided to wait to see how things progress. I don’t want to assume mischief, although he’s done it to me in the past. I will try to always do my best. Sometimes my best is flawed, but it’s the best I can do at the time. I’m thinking coworker #2 may be trying to do his best, but spreading malicious gossip is not his best. At any rate, it does come back to the 4 Agreements. The Creator gives me the challenge to see how I will respond.

I see how this is consistent with working The Secret. I’ve not completely integrated the two (since I’m still learning about The Secret). They both address relationships with others, with myself, and with the universe.

This is the work in progress. There is no way I’ll ever complete this because I’m fallible, and will always need to practice, practice, practice, practice each of the Four Agreements.
