Went to bed at 8:30 pm last night  — 16 hours ago

and I’m so used to sleeping 5 hours a night, that I woke up at 1:15 am! I finally got back to sleep around 2 am, and slept until the alarm went off at 4:15 am. Even with the extra sleep, I woke up tired. I plan to do some serious napping the next 4 days when I’m on annual leave.

Continuing difficulties  — 1 week ago

accomplishing this goal. I think my life is going to have to get more simple before it’ll happen. I’m too stressed right now to sleep well.

Sleep schedule change  — 3 weeks ago

I’m having to get up every morning at 4:05 a.m. now, and I don’t get to bed until after 9 p.m. I’m tired! I sleep for about 25 minutes in the commuter van going back and forth to work, but it’s not enough. I take many naps on the weekends. I need to figure out a way to get more sleep. Any ideas?

Naps  — 1 month ago

I’m napping in odd moments for 5-30 minute stretches and it’s making a big difference. I’m managing to shut the light at about 10:30 pm at night, getting up around 5:00 am, and napping here and there throughout the day. I feel more rested, but I’m always willing (and usually able to sleep) whenever. Summer is a great time to nap.

Did this over the holidays  — 7 months ago

I slept. I didn’t do a whole lot more. That’s why my dis isn’t done. I sure did need the sleep, and I slept.

Changed the blanket on the bed  — 8 months ago

and sleep is better. We were using pretty (but heavy) wool Pendletons and a down comforter. Last weekend I bought a polarfleece blanket that is lightweight and ultra warm. It, with the down comforter and a flannel sheet between the blanket and the regular sheet, is perfect. I am sleeping better than I have in a long time. It’s like sleeping under a warm cloud. The heavy weight of the Pendletons dragged them down so we were always having to yank them up while asleep. This is so much better. I’m actually going to bed 30-60 mintues earlier at night because now the bed is inviting. I fall asleep and stay asleep. I hope this keeps up.

Naps count  — 9 months ago

I guess, since after taking even a 20-minute nap, I wake up feeling refreshed, particuarly when it’s in the middle of the day. I have to get up by 4:30 a.m. every day, so going to bed early is critical. I am really trying to do that, which means almost no free time at night due to chores. This is a really important goal, but will always be a challenge due to the way life is these days. Studies show that people who get enough sleep are thinner, have higher IQs, are healthier, and generally get more done – this is, of course, over the long run.
