Today I made an awesome green salad for a potluck, including artichoke hearts, olives, grape tomatoes, ect. I have two kinds of dressing, including jalapeno ranch, which I think people will scarf up. It’s for a baby shower, and this salad is to honor the mother-to-be.

I went over to the new west campus library site and told the contractor’s assistant where to put the outlets. It is going to be a really great place: old burnt adobe, 850 sq. ft., with a huge front porch, a barbeque, and a huge garden steps away from the front door. It will be the plum assignment for library staff.
Today I walked to the spot where the commuter van picked me up. Normally I couldn’t do it, but my vehicle is at the shop and the driver of the van graciously agreed to pick me up at the end of my dirt road. I walked another 1/4 mile farther, so ended up going for a 1/2 mile walk, toting my brief case, lunch box, and extra bag. The exercise enhanced my life, and happily it was a relatively cool morning today with little humidity.
I just finished going through several boxes of donated books that were on top of a study carrel. I put the ones I didn’t want onto a library truck and put it outside with a sign: Free Books! Take as many as you want! No Limit! Students were going through the truck within minutes. The study carrel is still not usable because I need to go through the donations that are stored UNDER it, but my goal is to have it completed by tomorrow at the end of my shift. The other side of the study carrel also is piled with donations, and I will try to make a dent in that as well. One faculty member is using the library as his personal storage unit for books he’s not sure he wants…time to change that.
My relative and I eat lunch at work together fairly often. Today I brought him a cloth napkin, along with mine, to use at lunch instead of the crummy paper napkins he uses. He loved it. I will try to bring him one a day, along with my own, so he has a pleasant napkin to use at lunch. I have enough cloth napkins to do this, and I want to use them so it is good for him and for me—not to mention the environment.
My work banned feeding animals on campus, so the semi-feral campus cat is not getting fed. I’m at a month-long workshop, but came in to work today to try to catch her (she is very hungry, having not eaten in days) so I can take her home to join my family. Please say a prayer for her, and keep your fingers crossed for me that I’m able to get her. She will complicate my life for about a month, but her life will be enhanced and in the long run, she will bring me joy and peace – knowing she is in a safer environment.
who is living in a teeny, tiny corral no larger than 10’ X 10’. She’s a 3-year old. My husband will be training her. Pictures soon. We put up her corral yesterday, and although it’s not very big, it’s triple what she is in now. I am looking forward to seeing her when she comes home!
and submitted it to HR. Now I have an updated copy for my own records.
I have to use a barcode scanner at work, and the cord of my mouse is always activating it so I get all this red light on my desk – rather annoying. My job hasn’t sprung for a wireless mouse yet. I noticed today that the cord goes around the stem of the scanner, and all I had to do was unwrap it and there is no problem now. Who wudda thunk?
so when I go home, the kitchen will be clean. What a great feeling that will be. I also made the bed.
